With a population of over 100,000 people, Tartu is the second largest city in Estonia and the oldest in the Baltic States. Tartu offers all the infrastructure and facilities of a technology hub, combined with a rich historical and cultural heritage, preserved in its numerous museums and parks. Tartu can be easily reached from Tallinn by bus (2.5 hours) or by train (2 hours). It can also be reached directly from Riga by bus (3.5 hours).
With around 13500 students and 1500 academic staff, the University of Tartu (UT) is the largest university in Estonia. Founded in 1632, it is also the highest-ranked university in the Baltic States according to the Times and the QS World University rankings.
